How to measure your belt size
Measure around your waist where you wear your trousers, or use the waist size on trousers that fit you well. The easiest reference is a belt you already own that fits: you can lay it beside the new belt as a template when you cut.
How to cut a leather belt to fit
You cut the strap at the buckle end, never at the tip, so the tip and its holes stay as they are. You need a sharp craft knife or strong scissors, a ruler and a pen. The method is the same for pin-buckle, reversible and autolock (pinless) belts. If your buckle does not unclip, message us before cutting.
- Before cutting, check that the belt is the model and colour you ordered and is undamaged. A belt that has been cut cannot be replaced as damaged or wrong.
- Unclip the buckle from the strap, and keep the leather loop (keeper) if your belt has one.
- If you have a belt that fits, lay it next to the new strap with the tips together and mark where its buckle starts. Otherwise put on your trousers, thread the strap through the loops tip first, close it comfortably (on a pin-buckle belt, at the middle hole) and mark where it meets the buckle end.
- Cut 1 to 2 cm beyond the mark, straight across, using the ruler as a guide.
- Clip the buckle back on, refit the keeper and try the belt on. If it is still too long, trim 1 to 2 cm more and try again: you can always cut more, but you cannot add it back.
